I've been to Douzo several times and always enjoy my meal! They also have a variety of fun cocktails and the vibes are nice. We ordered an assortment of maki rolls this time and all shared.
As a parent of teenagers with severe food allergies to peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, and eggs, finding a restaurant that truly understands and accommodates their needs can be challenging. Our daughters love sushi and Asian cuisine, so we wanted to give them an elevated dining experience. We discovered Douzo through Spokin, but called ahead to confirm that they could handle our allergies, and they reassured us they could. When we arrived, our waiter immediately made us feel comfortable. He listened carefully to our concerns and knew the menu inside and out, helping our daughters make choices without hesitation. They enjoyed Edamame, Shishito peppers, California rolls, Ramen with chicken, mushroom soup, and salmon rolls--all prepared safely and to their delight. Watching them enjoy the meal without worry was such a relief. What impressed us most was the calm confidence of the staff. It's crucial for us that they not only understand food allergies but also ensure our kids feel safe and welcome. The food was fantastic, not just for our daughters but for everyone in our party of six. The variety of drinks, sushi rolls, and appetizers added to the overall experience, making it a wonderful evening. We're already looking forward to our next visit!
The food was delicious! A great spot for sushi and their ramen selection was also great. The restaurant itself has a cool modern vibe to it and the service was amazing. Our waiter Aiden was beyond helpful and kind while serving us. He definitely made our visit even better!
Came here for our anniversary dinner, we got the sushi boat platter and it was so fresh and delicious. Highly recommended!!!
This was my first "fancy" dinner in Boston after moving back. The service and vibes of the restaurant are absolutely fantastic. Just make sure you get a reservation, cause it gets busy! We sat at the bar and the bartender was definitely nice, giving us solid recommendations and given us a show with different cocktails that were getting ordered. Best dish of all time here though was the Uni Shot. We loved it so much, we got 3 orders of it! It's the right balance of umami, savory, and herbs all packed in a single shot. We also got the Crispy Rice with spicy tuna. Great balance of crunchy and soft texture. I think next time, we're going to try it with the scallops. 100% would recommend ordering it again. The octopus ceviche was perfectly prepared with a great balance of sweet, spicy, and freshness from the onions and cilantro. And the Tamari Scallops had a nice pop in your mouth if you enjoy a sour + slimy texture. Sushi was incredibly fresh and tightly-rolled. We ordered the Douzo Special Roll, Sumo Roll, Mt. Fuji Roll, Backbay Roll, Spider Roll, Caterpillar Roll, and Volcano Roll. Would definitely recommend any of these again for next time. Soft-Shell Crab was tasty but the only thing that would be a 3/5 since it was just a basic fried soft shell crab with tempera sauce. Would've loved a little bit more salt/pepper to bring out the briny-ness of the crab. For Cocktails: Death Jam (4/5) - nice balance of sweetness Kabuchiko Martini (3/5) - definitely an interesting flavor to it, but probably wouldn't order it again Overall: it's definitely on the pricey-er side, so great for special occasions or if I wanted to splurge for some solid sushi.
Douzo Sushi is a delicious, though pricey, sushi spot near Copley Place in Boston. Service was quick and relatively attentive and they did a good job of explaining some of the nuances in the dishes (for example the richness of the King Salmon vs the 'normal' salmon). We ordered a variety of rolls and nigiri which they brought out in a beautiful boat. The uni was tasty, though not incredible, and I'm unsure whether the extra $$$ for the king salmon was worth it. Drinks were tasty, though strong, so you get some good value for your money there. Restaurant was relatively busy which was a nice sign although can be slightly confusing on entering as there are two entrances (one via the Main Street and another through a building lobby).
Our waitress here was really nice. She did a great job pacing the food that came out to us. We sat at a small high table and I think that the pacing of the food was really important because there's not much space. The rolls here are really good my favorite was the Phoenix. The salmon balls were really good. The Toro was also very nice. I really liked the kama here, it was deep fried as opposed to baked or grilled. I also liked the lychee drink that I got as well. I would definitely come back to try some of their other dishes maybe the skewers.
